What We Do
Directorate General of Civil Audit (DG – Civil) is in the centre of Financial Audit of the accounts of the Government. Two key financial statements of the Government the ‘Finance Accounts’ and the ‘Appropriation Accounts (Civil)’ is audited here. Besides, Compliance and Performance Audits of issues relating to Finance Division, Controller General of Accounts and its subordinate offices are conducted by this office. The ‘Entitlements’ and ‘Pensions’ of Persons, who are (or were) employed in services of the Republic (except for Military, Railway and Postal departments) are audited by this office. In addition, the Statutory Public Authorities and Public Enterprises, which are related to Finance Division, are also audited by the office. The results of our audits are submitted to the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh which if s/he thinks fit (after necessary corrections) shall submit them to the President, who shall cause them to be laid before the Parliament under the provisions of Article 132 of the Constitution and Section 5 (1) of the CAG’s (Additional Functions) Act, 1974.
